Couple killed in Anoka County is ruled a murder-suicide

August 22, 2011 at 5:27PM

The deaths of a couple found dead in their Anoka County home in Linwood Township were the result of the husband shooting his wife in the head and then killing himself the same way, authorities said Monday.

"Acquaintances of the couple acknowledged there was a history of some marital discord within the relationship," the County Sheriff's Office said in a statement identifying the husband and wife as Todd A. Hulke, 53, and Laura T. Hulke, 51.

The Sheriff's Office was called the home Friday on a request to check on the couple.

Along with the bodies, a note from Todd Hulke was also found in the home in the 23000 block of NE. Nebula Street, the Sheriff's Office said.

In her obituary, Laura Hulke was described as a lifelong lover of horses and dogs. She was active in rescue efforts of Dobermans, the obituary added. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory are being suggested to Doberman Rescue Minnesota.
