Details on the Philadelphia Orchestra bankruptcy

Pensions, contracts, endowments, Pops agreements all in play in first day in court.

I'm not very good at links, but I believe the link below will get you to Peter Dobrin's interesting story in the Philly Inquirer about the first day of orchestra bankruptcy in court. There are a lot of moving parts.

The orchestra wants relief from pension obligations, wants a new contract with the musicians, and seeks relief from entanglements with the Kimmel Center, the Philly Pops and Peter Nero. A big issue in court is whether the orchestra can use some of its $140 million to address its situation. Union says yes, the orchestra says no.
