The Timberwolves' website briefly in the last half hour had a news release up that the team has traded Jason Hart to New Orleans for Devin Brown.
Not so fast.
David Kahn texted not long ago and said it's not a done deal, even though this quote from him was up on the team's website for several minutes.
"Jason has been the consummate professional during his time with us, but it was a rare opportunity to add a proven player with three-point shooting capabilities that will help our offense." Kahn said. "Devin should be a nice addition to our team defensively, as well. He has a reputation as a tough kid and hard-nosed defender."
Oops.
As I wrote in the initial post this morning, Kahn said the deal is neither done, dead not snagged. He said there was more than one way to do the deal and that other teams were involved.
If the deal is completed, the Hornets will have done so to save themselves a couple of million on the luxury tax. Hart's deal is non-guaranteed and the Hornets almost certainly would simply waive him after the deal is done.
Brown is making $1.1 million this season.
