Former Minnesotan Diablo Cody has enough credentials now to qualify her as a major TV player. In addition to creating the short-lived, but critically acclaimed "The United States of Tara" for Showtime, she had a significant role in developing Tig Notaro's "One Mississippi" and is supposedly working on a series about synchronized swimming.

So it's not a huge surprise that the Oscar-winning screenwriter of "Juno" is teaming up with veteran producer Greg Berlanti ("Supergirl," "Everwood") for a possible ABC sitcom.

But here's the eyebrow-raising twist: "Raised by Wolves," which focuses on a single mother raising five difficult kids on a shoestring budget, is going to be set in a Midwest town.

No word on what city, but is it too much to hope for a Twin Cities-based "Roseanne"?

"Wolves" has only been approved as a pilot, wich means the network has no commitment to pick up the single-camera comedy as a full series. But Berlanti has a great track record and, according to the Hollywood Reporter, it's only the second comedy pilot ABC has ordered so far for the 2017-18 season.

Cody is on board as both a writer and executive producer.
