Wait for a sunny day before asking for a raise or a big favor. It’s fairly intuitive, but people really are in better moods on a sunny day vs. a gray or rainy day. Scientists say sunshine increases the brain’s production of serotonin, a neurotransmitter strongly associated with mood elevation and calmness.

For the record, here at home an average of 198 days are sunny or partly sunny. The sun is out roughly 54% of the year. Not as sunny as Denver, Phoenix or San Diego, but plenty of opportunities to wear sunscreen.

More thunderstorms bubble up Sunday along a pesky warm frontal boundary. Heaviest rain may fall Sunday night with another 1 to 2 inches possible before this soggy, sluggish system finally slops eastward. That’s 2 to 5 inches of rain since Friday, nearly a month’s worth in 3-plus days for some Minnesota towns.

I still see a cooler, drier, less humid pattern coming up. No monsoon rains for the State Fair.

Some people get so indignant on a rainy summer weekend. I sympathize, but Mother Nature always bats last. We’re just in the way.
