No science can explain the supernatural attraction of storms to major holiday weekends. Although your odds of staying dry are higher on Labor Day than the 4th of July.
Sometimes you just get lucky. Welcome to one of the nicer Labor Day weekends in recent memory: fleeting Friday showers and patchy fog, but otherwise the pinnacle of weather perfection. A smoke-free blue sky, light winds, comfortable humidity and lukewarm temperatures. San Diego with lakes. I hope you sneak outside to sample how extraordinary late summer can be in Minnesota.
I love every month (except February), but September is my favorite: balmy much of the month, drier, fewer thunderstorms and longer, cooler nights. The definition of “good sleeping weather.”
We should hit 80 degrees Sunday and again on Labor Day before 50s and 60s later this week. The arrival of a cool slap sparks thunderstorms Tuesday with a few clipper-like showers into Friday. Almost time to dig out a sweatshirt.
We’ll see more 80s by mid-September. Pretty sure we haven’t seen our last 90.
