Driver was drunk when he caused crash in Minneapolis that killed other motorist, police say
A preliminary breath test administered by police found that his blood alcohol content soon after the crash was 0.172%, according to a court filing.
The crash occurred shortly after 10 p.m. when the driver of a Dodge Journey crossed the center line of N. Lowry Avenue at N. James Avenue and struck a Dodge Durango traveling in the opposite direction.
The Durango’s driver, Victoria Eileen Harwell, 31, of Minneapolis and her 14-year-old female passenger were taken by emergency responders to North Memorial Health Hospital, where Harwell died. A second female passenger declined to speak with police.
The driver of the Journey, German Adriano Llangari Inga, 34, was evaluated for minor injuries at North Memorial and later booked into the Hennepin County jail on suspicion of driving while impaired and criminal vehicular homicide, police said.
A preliminary breath test administered by police found that Inga’s blood alcohol content soon after the crash was 0.172%, more than twice the legal limit for driving in Minnesota, according to a search warrant affidavit filed in court by police that allowed law enforcement to collect his blood for further testing.
Inga remained jailed Monday ahead of charges that are expected to be filed early this week.
