Erin Keefe, concert master of the Minnesota Orchestra, is joining the faculty of the MacPhail Center for Music. Keefe will teach individual violin lessons to advanced students and also teach master classes. The appointment has no impact on Keefe's position with the orchestra -- although she is among the union musicians currently locked out in a contract dispute.

Keefe became concertmaster in September, 2011. Her work as a soloist has taken her around the world.

MacPhail also announced the appointment of cellist Andrey Tchekmazov to the strings faculty. Internationally regarded, he is currently on the faculty of the University of St. Thomas.

Keefe annd Tchekmazov will give a recital at MacPhail at 8 p.m., Nov. 17. The program includes Beethoven's Sonata for cello and piano; Grieg's Sonata for violin and piano; and Eight Pieces for Violin and Cello by Reinhold Gliere.
