Army Sgt. Patrick Sunderman of Farmington was named to the U.S. Olympic shooting team, earning a spot at next month's Tokyo Games in smallbore rifle.

Sunderman, a member of the Army Marksmanship Unit, earned the highest combined score in the two-phase Olympic trials that concluded last week at Fort Benning, Ga.

He was a four-time NCAA champion in rifle at West Virginia University. A 2012 graduate of Farmington High School, Sunderman, 26, won his first World Cup medal this year when he finished second in a team event in New Delhi, India.
