New vintage stores

If there's any sure sign that the economy is improving, it's the steady stream of new vintage stores popping up around the Twin Cities. Just last week, Rewind Vintage opened a second location in south Minneapolis (4806 Chicago Av. S., 612-824-1350), and Northeast Vintage debuted (1627 NE. Washington St., Mpls., 612-284-4485). While Rewind has been known for its fantastic jewelry selection, Northeast is sure to have an excellent array of accessories. Co-owner Martine Lizama also designs her own jewelry line, Imelda.

June trunk shows

Designer resale shop June hosts an evening of all-local trunk shows, including vintage-inspired lingerie line Jagress Intimates, jewelry line Vintage City Classics and the Elixery, a vegan, locally manufactured lipstick line. Vision models will don looks from all three; Jagress designer Sarah White will conduct private fittings for custom garments, and the Elixery will offer a preview of its new eye shadows, launching this summer. (6-9 p.m. Thu. June, 3406 Lyndale Av. S., Mpls. 612-354-3970.)
