Fresh air! Fresh vegetables! It's the new season for farmers markets. Check out the start dates of nearly 30 Minneapolis markets in an interactive map at minneapolismn.gov/farmersmarkets. First to open was the Minneapolis Farmers Market on Lyndale Avenue N. last Saturday. The Nicollet Mall market, held on Thursdays, returns to the mall May 3 after a multiyear hiatus.

Shoppers from St. Paul and its suburbs can check out their favorite markets in a listing at stpaulfarmersmarket.com/index.php/locations. The downtown St. Paul market opens Saturday.

Or look for markets throughout the state via the Minnesota Grown print or online directory at minnesotagrown.org. Don't forget your cloth grocery bags!
