Five things to know about the Gophers defense from Thursday's 45-31 loss to Ohio State:

  • They hurried the quarterback twice, once by defensive end Boye Mafe and once by linebacker Jack Gibbens. Both led to incomplete passes by C.J. Stroud.
    • They did not force a fumble.
      • Cornerback Terell Smith had their lone interception on a pass deflected by Buckeyes receiver Chris Olave.
        • They had one tackle-for-loss — cornerback Coney Durr's third-quarter stop on Miyan Williams, which led to an Ohio State punt.
          • Senior linebacker Mariano Sori-Marin led Minnesota with six tackles after leading the team in tackles last season.

The remaining schedule is favorable, but their hopes of a late-season run were dulled by a home loss to the Terrapins.
