Almost 160,000 coffeemakers are being recalled following 1,276 reports of coffee pots' handles breaking and at least 68 reports of burns or lacerations, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced this month. Applica Consumer Products Inc. of Miramar, Fla., is recalling seven models of the Black & Decker Spacemaker 12-cup Programmable Under-the-Counter Coffeemaker that were sold through retailers nationwide from July 2008 to May 2012 for about $50 to $80. Model numbers affected by the recall, which are printed on the underside of the appliance, start with "SDC" and finish with 740, 740B, 740BR, 740C, 740DIS, 740R, 750, 750C or 750DIS.
