CLASS 2A, SECTION 4MINNEAPOLIS WASHBURN 7, BLAKE 0: Even a below-par performance from the ace of the staff can't deter the Millers (22-0). Josh Pierce improved to 10-0 on the season despite giving up six hits, hitting three batters and walking three more. Pierce worked himself out of numerous jams, however, thanks to nine strikeouts.

• ST. PAUL ACADEMY 4, DELASALLE 1: As Matt Fiedler goes, so go the Spartans. The junior pitcher, who is considered among the top prospects in the state for 2013, went 2-for-3 and scored a run at the plate and held DeLaSalle to just one run on four hits while striking out eight on the mound.

CLASS 3A, SECTION 4

• WOODBURY 3, MAHTOMEDI 1 (8 INN.): The 11th-seeded Royals, maddeningly inconsistent during the regular season, rode the arm of Steven Fingleton, who pitched an eight-inning complete game. Ryan Scanlon provided the punch with a two-run homer in the top of the eighth, knocking the No. 6-seeded Zephyrs from the playoffs.

CLASS 3A, SECTION 5

• BLAINE 5, SPRING LAKE PARK 3: Tanner Schumacher did exactly what was expected of him, giving up four hits and striking out 15 for his fifth victory of the season. Spring Lake Park pitcher Jake Mathys, who willplay at Kansas State next year, did all he could for the undermanned Panthers, tossing a complete game and hitting a two-run homer in the seventh inning.

CLASS 3A, SECTION 6

• ARMSTRONG 11, ST. LOUIS PARK 5: Matt Ripka doubled and drove in three runs and Andrew Vavaro had two hits and two runs as 12th-seeded Armstrong routed the No. 5-seeded Orioles.
