Job: Gophers offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach

Hometown: Lakeville

Playing days: Played quarterback for Lakeville High School and Northern Iowa. He went 31-8 as a starter at UNI and was a three-time All-Gateway Conference selection, finishing his career with more than 8,000 passing yards and 58 touchdowns.

Coaching career: Johnson started as an assistant at Columbia (Mo.) Hickman. As a graduate assistant at Missouri, he worked with Dirk Koetter, who is now the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' head coach, and Marty Mornhinweg, a longtime NFL offensive coordinator. Johnson also coached at Kansas, Southern Miss, Louisville, Central Michigan and Louisiana-Lafayette

Previous stop: Johnson spent five years as the offensive coordinator at Louisiana-Lafayette. The Ragin' Cajuns set school records for total offense (5,914 yards) and points (461) in 2012. They went 9-4 in Johnson's first four seasons but slipped to 4-8 last year with inexperience at quarterback and an injury-depleted offensive line.
