Gameday preview: Indiana at Lynx
7 P.M. VS. INDIANA • TARGET CENTER • No TV, 106.1-FM
Lynx update: Playing without injured guards Lindsay Whalen and Seimone Augustus will test the Lynx's depth throughout the final two weeks of the regular season. Despite losing Whalen in the first half on Sunday, the Lynx got a much-needed victory against the Phoenix Mercury to close out a mediocre August. They still lead the Western Conference with a 20-10 record but will need to find a rhythm with different players carrying the load heading into the postseason. Renee Montgomery stepped in to fill Whalen's void by scoring 15 points off the bench on Sunday and will be expected to keep producing in the remaining four regular-season games.
Fever update: Indiana started August on a 7-1 run and built a six-game winning streak before stumbling late in the month with three consecutive losses. The Fever (18-12) kicked off September with a 30-point victory over Connecticut and could use another successful run this month to secure home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs. They've already claimed their spot in the postseason but are tied for second in the Eastern Conference standings with the Chicago Sky. F Tamika Catchings is averaging a team-high 13.6 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.
