Gameday preview: Los Angeles at Lynx
Sparks make a return visit
Preview: The Lynx (21-3) and Sparks (18-7) have the league's two best records. The Sparks beat the Lynx in the 2016 WNBA Finals, but the Lynx won the first meeting this season in St. Paul. The teams will meet once more on Aug. 27 in Los Angeles.
Players to watch: Lynx G Renee Montgomery had her best game of the season the last time these two teams played, when she scored 20 points for the first time since 2012 and made four three-point shots. Los Angeles forward Candace Parker is averaging 16.6 points and 8.4 rebounds per game but was just 1-for-6 from the field and grabbed only three rebounds against the Lynx earlier this season.
By the numbers: The Lynx (76.0) and Sparks (77.1) rank 1-2 in the league in fewest points allowed per game.
Injuries: Lynx G Lindsay Whalen remains out. She had surgery on Aug. 4 to repair a fracture in the fifth metacarpal of her left hand. The normal timetable for returning from such an injury is three to four weeks.
