Both Dream, Lynx coming off big wins
Preview: The teams, who are meeting for the first time this season, will play three times in the next two weeks. The Lynx (17-2) held on for a 76-75 victory over the New York Liberty on Tuesday. The Lynx outscored the Liberty 34-26 in points in the paint — the fourth straight game the Lynx have held an opponent to under 30 points in the paint. The Dream (10-11) is coming off a 99-91 victory over Phoenix on Tuesday. The Lynx have won six straight in the series.
Players to watch: Lynx F Maya Moore scored a season-high 27 points in the victory over New York. Lynx F Sylvia Fowles had 18 points, nine rebounds and four blocks in the victory over New York as she became the seventh player in league history to surpass 500 career blocks. Atlanta G Tiffany Hayes, a starter in last week's WNBA All-Star game, is ninth in the WNBA in scoring (17.4 points per game). Dream G Layshia Clarendon is averaging 11.8 points per game and is second in the WNBA in assists (7 per game). Dream G Brittney Sykes is averaging 18.2 points per game since moving into the starting lineup June 30. On the season Sykes, a rookie from Syracuse, is averaging 12.1 points per game.
Numbers: The Lynx, who played 18 games in the first 71 days of the season, will play 16 times in the regular season's final 41 days.
