Gameday preview: Lynx at Chicago

May 18, 2016 at 3:24AM

Preview: A challenging start to the Lynx season continues. After facing Phoenix in the opener Saturday, the Lynx travel to Chicago to play the Sky, which finished with the third-best record in the league last season led by reigning MVP Elena Delle Donne. The Lynx, showing their depth and defense, easily handled the Mercury on Saturday. Even with Delle Donne out sick, the Sky whipped Connecticut 93-70 in its opener. This will be Lynx center Sylvia Fowles' first game against her former team; Fowles held out through the first half of last season, resulting in her midseason trade to the Lynx.

Players to watch: Lynx F Maya Moore is coming off a 27-point, 10-assist game. C Fowles had 17 points and 14 rebounds and G Seimone Augustus had 21 points on 10-for-15 shooting. Chicago F Delle Donne averaged 23.4 points last season, shooting 46 percent from the field last year. G Courtney Vandersloot had 14 points and seven assists and G Cappie Pondexter 13 points in Chicago's season-opener.

Numbers: The Lynx have gone 4-2 vs. Chicago since Delle Donne's rookie season in 2013, with both losses coming in Chicago. The Sky led the league in scoring last season (82.9 points per game).

Injuries: None; Chicago's Delle Donne returned to practice Monday.
