Gameday: Wolves-Oklahoma City preview
The Wolves get their first look at the remade Thunder.
Preview: The Wolves won their home opener Friday thanks to Jamal Crawford's 17 fourth-quarter points, the three-point victory over the pesky Utah Jazz evening their record at 1-1. Now they head back out on the road, where Minnesota will play eight of its first 13 games. It won't be easy. The Thunder is 14-1 vs. Minnesota in its past 15 home games and has won 27 of the past 32 games overall between the two teams. The reconfigured Thunder got 20 or more points from Russell Westbrook and newcomers Carmelo Anthony and Paul George in a 21-point victory over New York on Thursday. This game will be the second half of a back-to-back for Oklahoma City, which played in Utah on Saturday.
Players to watch: Wolves F Andrew Wiggins is averaging 23.5 points and 5.0 rebounds in two games, shooting 48.5 percent. Crawford (13.5 points per game) and Nemanja Bjelica (9.5) have provided punch off the bench, and C Karl-Anthony Towns has opened the seasons with two double-doubles. The Wolves are 1-1 despite Jimmy Butler (38.5 percent), Taj Gibson (31.3) and Jeff Teague (37.5) all shooting under 40 percent. Thunder G Westbrook had his 80th career triple-double in the victory over New York. He averaged 26.6 points and 11.6 assists vs. Minnesota last season. Anthony scored 22 points vs. New York, his old team, while George had 28.
Numbers: The Wolves have averaged nearly seven more free throws than their opponents through two games. Since the start of the 2009-10 season, the Thunder's .654 winning percentage is second best in the NBA. Oklahoma City has sold out 300 straight home games.
Injuries: Wolves C Justin Patton (foot) is out. Oklahoma City reported no injuries for its game in Utah on Saturday.
Both teams had lopsided losses Thursday night and have identical 14-12 records entering Saturday’s game.
