Gameday: Wolves-Suns preview
Suns take their act on the road
Preview: The Suns start a six-game road trip after they have just played nine of 10 games at home. Included was a 118-110 victory over the Wolves on Nov. 11 in which the Suns used a late 14-0 run to win. Young star Devin Booker and TJ Warren each scored 35 points in that game, but Booker is questionable for Sunday because of inflammation in his right big toe. He played 33 minutes with 13 points in a 115-89 home loss to New Orleans on Friday. … The Suns' only victories in those nine home games were over Chicago 113-105 and the Wolves. … The two teams play their entire four-game season series by Christmas. The Suns return to Target Center on Dec. 16 and the Wolves go back to Phoenix for a Dec. 23 game. The Wolves' 3-0 series sweep last season was their first sweep of the Suns since 2003-04.
Players to watch: The Suns are 4-0 this season when Warren scores at least 25 points, including Nov. 11 vs. the Wolves. He is averaging 18.7 points a game, even though he has made a three-point shot only twice this season. Among NBA players who have made just three threes this year, nobody is averaging as many points a game. He has scored at least 20 points in nine of his last 16 games. … Booker has scored at least 30 points in seven of his last 15 games and is averaging 24.1 points on 44.6 percent shooting from the field in those 15 games. He's 17th in the league with a 22.5 scoring average and is tied for third with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Anthony Davis for most 30-point games with seven. LeBron James and Kristaps Porzingis each have eight 30-point games.
Injuries: Wolves G Jeff Teague (right Achilles soreness) and F Nemanja Bjelica (left mid-foot sprain) did not play in Friday's 109-97 loss to Miami and each is listed as questionable. C Justin Patton (foot surgery) is progressing but remains out indefinitely. Booker (big toe inflammation) is questionable, G Brandon Knight (ACL tear), G Davon Reed (meniscus repair) and F/C Alan Williams (meniscus repair) are listed as out.
