Gear alert: Fake bait will do if headed to Canada

May 31, 2017 at 1:23AM

Anglers traveling to Canada are restricted from bringing most live bait with them. An option depending on destination is fake bait, such as Berkley Gulp! Bass anglers have caught fish with these and other scented soft plastics for decades, and improvements are ongoing. To help you catch walleyes, grub-, worm-, shad-, crawler- and minnow-shaped baits are available in various colors. Rig them on jigs and other live-bait rigs and fish them off points, along drop-offs, etc.
