Gophers add junior-college linebacker

Damien Wilson made 122 tackles for small school in Mississippi, will join Gophers in January

The Gophers received official paperwork Wednesday, the first day transfer students can accept football scholarships, from Damien Wilson, a linebacker from Jones County (Miss.) Junior College, the university announced.
The 6-3, 230-pound Wilson made 122 tackles in nine games for Jones County last season, ranking second in the league. He chose Minnesota over Kansas and Louisiana Tech, among other schools. Wilson plans to enroll in time for the start of the semester in January and will take part in spring practices.
