The WCHA named Gophers junior forward Gigi Marvin of Warroad, Minn., the Offensive Player of the Week for her performance last weekend against Bemidji State.
Gophers' Marvin honored
Marvin scored four points in Friday's game, a 5-0 Gophers victory. Marvin's fourth point of the night was also the 100th of her career.
The Gophers close the 2007 year when they visit Minnesota State University, Mankato, this weekend. Game times are 7 p.m Friday and 3 p.m. Saturday.
Swimmer Tyler honored Jillian Tyler, a Gophers freshman from Calgary, Alberta, was named the Big Ten Swimmer of the Week after her record-breaking performance at the Ohio State Invitational on Nov. 30-Dec. 2 in Columbus, Ohio.
Tyler recorded three NCAA 'A' times and took part in two winning relays that posted 'B' times. Her first-place time in the 100-yard breaststroke (59.82) ranks her second in Big Ten history, narrowly missing the conference record of 59.77.
Four Gophers chosen for U.S. team Four Gophers men's hockey players were selected for the U.S. team that will play in the International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championships from Dec. 26 to Jan. 5 in the Czech Republic. Chosen for the second year in a row were forwards Kyle Okposo and Mike Carman. Joining them are forward Ryan Flynn and defenseman Cade Fairchild.
