Gophers-Mount St. Mary's game preview

Preview: The Gophers are looking for their first 3-0 start since Richard Pitino's first season in 2013-14. Monday's 84-67 win against Texas-Arlington gave Minnesota 170 points combined in its first two games of the season, the most since 2001-02. After hitting 10 three-pointers in the opener, Pitino's team shot only 4-for-23 from beyond the arc against Texas-Arlington. … Mount St. Mary's (0-2) lost by 28 points to West Virginia and by 18 to Iowa State.

Players to watch: The Gophers' Reggie Lynch is averaging 12.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks. The 6-10 Edina native is doing that in only 17.5 minutes a game. Dupree McBrayer and Nate Mason are tied for the team's scoring lead, averaging 14 points a game. … Mountaineers guard Elijah Long leads his team in points (16.5), rebounds (6.5) and assists (4.0).

Numbers: The Gophers' frontcourt of Lynch, Jordan Murphy and Eric Curry combined for 37 points, 24 rebounds and five blocks against Texas-Arlington.
