Freshman Grace Coughlin, a former Benilde-St. Margaret's guard, became the third Gophers women's basketball player to leave the program in the past two weeks on Tuesday, according to a University of Minnesota spokesperson.

Coughlin's departure comes on the heels of junior forward Jackie Johnson and freshman Rangie Bessard both making the same decision following winter break.

"Those young ladies wanted to go to institutions that better suit their skill sets, and we're very supportive of those decisions and helping them get to those particular schools," Gopher coach Marlene Stollings said.

Bessard, a 6-foot forward from Rosharon, Texas, has enrolled in classes at Wichita State and plans to play for the Shockers, according to the U.

Both Johnson, a 6-2 forward from Eden Prairie, and Coughlin remain enrolled at Minnesota but plan to transfer for the 2015-16 school year. The Gophers have 10 eligible players left this season, one of whom is injured (Stabresa McDaniel).
