Women's basketball preview: Illinois has slumped since defeating the Gophers

Losses to Indiana, Purdue and Michigan dropped the Illini from the Top 25.

Gophers update: Minnesota (9-13, 2-9 Big Ten) has lost three straight and eight of nine. The Gophers lost to the Illini at home 70-57 on Jan. 15. Sophomore C Rose Micheaux scored 24 points on 11-for-16 shooting in that game, with 14 rebounds. The rest of the team was 12-for-46 (26.1%). Amaya Battle (11 points, six assists) was the only other player in double figures.

Illinois update: The Illini (17-6, 7-5) have gone 2-3 since beating the Gophers, dropping out of the AP top 25 in the process. The losses came against Indiana, Purdue and Michigan. The Illini are led by G Makira Cook (17.6 points), G Genesis Bryant (15.5) and former Park Center star G Adalia McKenzie (14.1). ... Before the game, Illinois will honor Bloomington Kennedy alum Jenna Smith with a jersey ceremony. She played there from 2007-10 and remains the team's all-time leading scorer (2,160 points) and rebounder (1,217).
