It's like speed dating, but instead of romance you might end up with a book contract, which, of course, is much much better! And usually lasts longer! And can bring you fame! And, who knows, maybe even a little bit of money! (And, sometimes, just as much pain and anguish as a romance.)

On Saturday, between noon and 2 p.m., the publisher of Coffee House Press, Chris Fischbach, and the managing editor, Anitra Budd, will be at Walker Open Field, ready to listen. They're calling it "speed submissions."

"I want to hear your book idea, however crazy, even if it's not written yet," Fischbach said. "Fiction, nonfiction, poetry, experimental walking tours, radical art projects, anything you think would be great at Coffee House Press. Really. Come pitch it."

What have you got to lose? Budd and Fischbach don't even require roses and chocolates. Stop by. Make your case. See what happens. Wear your heart on your sleeve.

FILE -- A rent deposit slot at an apartment complex in Tucker, Ga., on July 21, 2020. As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
