Snow belts to the lee of the Great Lakes will be subjected to occasionalblizzard conditions through tonight. A very cold blast of air triggered bandsof heavy lake-effect snow that will dump 1-2 inches of snow in under an hour'stime. That combined with howling winds will create localized whiteouts thatwill reduce visibility to under 100 yards. The wind-driven bursts of snow and drifting snow could force the closure ofcertain stretches of highway. No doubt Interstate 90, between Cleveland andSyracuse, will be heavily impacted by the snow squalls, which will reach peakthis morning. Interstate 86 could also have extremely hazardous travel.
