Gustavus Adolphus home for NCAA hockey

MIAC champion Gustavus will be host to a first-round game in the 11-team NCAA Division III men's hockey championship, the NCAA announced Sunday. St. Thomas received an at-large bid.

The Gusties (16-6-5) will be host to Milwaukee School of Engineering at 7 p.m. Wednesday, while St. Thomas (18-5-2) plays at St. Norbert. The winners will meet Saturday.

The women's pairings will be announced Monday morning.

Gophers drop DQ baseball finale but win tourney The Gophers lost 10-3 to Nebraska in the final game of the Dairy Queen Classic at the Metrodome but were declared the champion in a tiebreaker over the Cornhuskers and West Virginia based on runs scored. Matt Puhl (5-for-12, four RBI) was chosen MVP.

Moulton throws shutout in Georgia Sophomore Sara Moulton pitched a four-hitter for the Gophers in a 4-0 softball victory over Rutgers at the Bulldog Invitational in Athens, Ga. The Gophers (14-4) went 4-1 in the tournament.
