Several hundred people gathered Saturday at Levee Park in Hastings at a Rally for Trans Kids. The event was organized to show support for transgender, nonbinary and LGBTQ young people in Hastings, following a CNN report that outgoing Hastings school board chair Kelsey Waits was targeted during her re-election campaign by a group of parents who outed her second-grader as transgender, leading to online and in school harassment of the family.
