Due to play only their second show next Wednesday opening for Poliça at the Turf Club, Jessie Daley's and Drew Preiner's electro-pop duo Fraea ("fray-ah") debuted the first single from their upcoming EP yesterday via the national blog Consequence of Sound.
The lush-toned song, "Criminal" (posted below), starts out light and poppy but turns darker and thicker as Daley sings, "Love can grow so cold." It'd easily fit in between a new Chvrches song and an old Everything But the Girl classic on a playlist.
An ex-bandmate of Poliça's Channy Leaneagh in the fondly remembered Roma di Luna, Daley started working on Fraea's tunes two years ago with Preiner, former guitarist/keyboardist in Roster McCabe. They've set an April 29 release date for their EP, "Bend Your Bones," with a release show booked April 30 at Icehouse. They'll play to a packed Turf Club next week with Poliça, the band's first of three sold-out hometown shows to tout its third album "United Crushers."
