Xai Vang, 65, of St. Paul was crossing Yankee Doodle Road just east of Golfview Drive, but not at a crosswalk, police said.
The crash occurred shortly after 9:30 p.m. Saturday on Yankee Doodle Road about a block east of Lexington Parkway, police said.
Police identified the victim Monday as Xai Vang, 65, of St. Paul.
Vang was crossing Yankee Doodle Road just east of Golfview Drive, but not at a crosswalk, when a 17-year-old boy driving a compact SUV struck the man in the westbound lanes, according to police.
Heavy rain was a factor in reducing the driver’s visibility at the time of the crash, police Sgt. Rich Evans said. The teen’s identity has yet to be released.
The man was taken by emergency medical responders to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, where he died, Evans said.
The driver and his younger sister with him were not hurt, according to police.
