Hector man, 92, dies in McLeod County crash

The two-vehicle wreck occurred on Hwy. 15 south of Hutchinson, Minn.

A 92-year-old man was killed Wednesday morning when the vehicle he was riding in collided with a semitrailer truck in a central Minnesota intersection.

Marcel Mathison of Hector, Minn., was riding in a Buick Encore headed east on 150th Street in Lynn Township when it crashed with a semi rig going south on Hwy. 15, the State Patrol said.

Mathison, who was wearing a seat belt, died at the scene a few miles south of Hutchinson in McLeod County, the State Patrol said.

The Encore driver, identified by the patrol as Jean Anderson, 85, of Hector, was taken to Hutchinson Health Hospital with life-threatening injuries. She was wearing a seat belt, the patrol said.

Matthew Wilder, the truck driver, was not seriously hurt. Wilder, 39, of Alexandria, Minn., was wearing a seat belt, the patrol said.

Roads were wet at the time of the crash, which was reported about 10:30 a.m. The State Patrol is investigating.
