Years before Batman or Superman swooped in, Doc Savage ruled pulp fiction. Best summed up for the uninitiated as a cross between James Bond and Indiana Jones, the Man of Bronze finally made his film debut in 1975's "Doc Savage." Ron Ely (TV's Tarzan) works fine as the hero, but director George Pal ("War of the Worlds") ill-advisedly goes for a campy vibe. Still, Warner's new Blu-ray ($22) will be a boon to die-hard fans and those curious about the Rock's upcoming reboot.
