One of the best movies of the year, "Wonder Woman" (out Tuesday on home video) inspires as it entertains.

Israeli actress Gal Gadot dazzles as the Amazonian superhero, who ventures from her secluded island during World War I to save the "civilized" world from itself. Along the way, she regularly comes to the rescue of American agent Steve Trevor, well-played by Chris Pine.

Director Patty Jenkins deftly captures the strength of Wonder Woman in lovingly staged fight scenes. Gadot makes her and alter-ego Diana Prince believably human at every other turn.

The Blu-ray offers glorious Dolby Atmos sound and a slew of behind-the-scenes extras.

Also out Tuesday

• "The Bad Batch"

• "The Big Sick"

• "Certain Women"

• "The Hero"

• "Starship Troopers: Traitor of Mars"
