Always one of the first musicians to offer his talent and time to just about any local benefit or cause thrown at him, Adam Levy and his family now deserve all the best wishes and support that the Twin Cities can send their way. The Honeydogs frontman is mourning the loss of his son Daniel, 21, who took his own life over the weekend, according to the family's obituary. He had a long struggle with mental illness.

Daniel lived in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., with his mother Jennifer Delton but was often seen at his father's Twin Cities gigs. The obituary mentions he was a talented artist, avid skateboarder and loving brother, the latter of which is apparent in family photos now being posted on Facebook of Daniel with his kid sisters Esther and Ava. Like Esther and Ava, Daniel played a role in the Levy family band, Bunny Clogs, for which he provided the album art. His uncle is also drummer Noah Levy (Brian Setzer, Trailer Trash). With Bunny Clogs, Adam recently spearheaded the "MN Music 4 MN Kids" benefit album for Children's Hospitals.

Our condolences to this talented and loving family. A service will be held in Saratoga Springs on Wednesday. Per the obituary, donations may be sent to Four Winds Saratoga (a mental health treatment hospital), 30 Crescent Ave., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
