The Standard & Poor's 500 index rose 36.24 points, or 1.8 percent, to 2,062.14.
The Nasdaq composite rose 85.72 points, or 1.8 percent, to 4,736.19.
For the week:
The Dow is up 74.88 points, or 0.4 percent.
The S&P 500 is up 3.94 points, or 0.2 percent.
The Nasdaq composite is up 9.37 points, or 0.2 percent
For the year:
The Dow is up 84.80 points, or 0.5 percent.
The S&P 500 is up 3.24 points, or 0.2 percent.
The Nasdaq composite is up 0.13 point, less than 0.1 percent.
