A 16-year-old deer hunter was found dead in his deer stand Saturday — the victim of a gunshot wound, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office said.

The boy has not been identified and the shooting remains under investigation.

About 5:30 p.m., the Sheriff's Office responded to a report of an accidental shooting in a deer stand, according to a news release issued by the Sheriff's Office.

The deer stand was near the 5800 block of Stepetz Road 53 in White Township, about five miles southwest of Aurora, Minn. Someone from the teenager's hunting party found him dead from a gunshot wound in his deer stand, the news release said.

Also in St. Louis County, a 64-year-old woman was hurt Saturday morning after falling 15 feet from a deer stand in Duluth. Beth Holst slipped and fell, calling for help for a possible broken leg. She was taken by ambulance to the hospital with noncritical injuries, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office said.
