Authorities on Friday released the identity of a man stabbed to death following a confrontation at a party in south Minneapolis.

Joshawa D. Bruce, 19, of Minneapolis, died Wednesday at Hennepin County Medical Center after being stabbed before dawn last Saturday, according to the county medical examiner's office.

Bruce was found about 5 a.m., bleeding outside a building in the 2400 block of 18th Avenue S., a short walk from his home. A man was arrested in connection with the altercation at the party but was released without charges.

Bruce is the city's fifth homicide victim of the year.

Three all-night wakes in Bruce's memory were scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Little Earth of United Tribes, 2501 Cedar Av. S., Minneapolis. Services at the same locations are scheduled for Monday at 11 a.m.
