In its second road game this season, Gophers women's basketball draws an improving Boston College

The Eagles (8-1), in their first season under coach Joanna Bernabei-McNamee, are coming off an 83-46 victory over Bryant on Thursday. Their win total already surpasses their output from last season.

U faces much improved BC

Preview: After six consecutive home games, the No. 14 Gophers (8-0) are playing just their second road game of the season. They are coming off a 75-39 victory over Incarnate Word on Wednesday. The Eagles (8-1), in their first season under coach Joanna Bernabei-McNamee, are coming off an 83-46 victory over Bryant at home Thursday. The Eagles already have surpassed last season's victory total. The Eagles were 7-23 last season and won just one of their past 14 games. The Gophers defeated Boston College 78-68 last season at Williams Arena. Gophers assistant coach Danielle O'Banion graduated from Boston College in 2001.

Players to watch: In her first season as a starter, Gophers C Annalese Lamke, a 6-3 senior, is averaging 9.8 points and 7.2 rebounds. Lamke is shooting 64 percent from the field. Sophomore G/F Destiny Pitts is averaging 11.2 points and leads the team with 14 three-pointers. The Eagles start three juniors and two freshmen. Their leading scorers are freshman G Marnelle Garraud (13.9 ppg, 5.3 rpg), 6-3 junior F Emma Guy (12.4 ppg, 7.3 rpg) and freshman G Makayla Dickens (11.7 ppg, 4.0 apg).

Numbers: Seven of the 12 players on the Eagles roster are freshmen and there are no seniors. The Gophers are 8-0 for the third time in program history. The Gophers started the 2002-03 season 12-0 and the 2003-04 season 15-0.
