Reed signed with the Twins as a fifth-round draft choice after his junior season in 2014. Takeda finished her illustrious college career in 2015, and joined the U.S. national team that summer.
They were married in November 2017. Jake is trying to make it to the big leagues for the first time. Janie will be playing for the U.S. national team for the fifth year when the schedule ramps up, with the goal of being on the team when softball returns to the Olympics next summer in Tokyo.
"Janie is definitely the best ballplayer in the family," Jake Reed said.
Although Harrison Bader will likely play in center field when Byron Buxton is given a day off, Bader more likely will play in left when the Twins face lefthanded starters.
