Post time: 5 p.m. Lock of the day: Exxel (2nd race). Value play of the day: Saranya (6th race). Big score: 50-cent Pick 5 ticket— Race 3, (5,6,13/2,4,11/8/2,6,7/8,9,10,11), $54.00.
1 6 furlongs. Fillies and mares. 3-year-olds and up. Maiden special weight. Purse: $30,000.
#: Horse, Jockey, TrainerWt./Odds
1: Taking Charge Desi (Wade, Oberlander)119/9-5
2: May Disco (I. Hernandez, Westermann)119/8-1
3: Luna S (Valenzuela, Silva)119/6-1
4: Jetinwithclass (H. Hernandez, Silva)119/9-2
5: Bombarra Gold (Fuentes, Scherer)119/8-5
6: Grandiose Summer (Conning, Silva Rodriguez)119/15-1
BOMBARRA GOLD stumbled at the start in last, recovered quickly and ran a non-threatening second. If she breaks alertly, she could be the controlling speed and dare them to catch her. TAKING CHARGE DESI raced behind the top pick in last. May show more speed from the rail and try to get involved earlier. JETINWITHCLASS has faced much better in Kentucky and will welcome the class relief.
2 6½ furlongs. Open. 3-year-olds and up. Allowance optional claiming: $75,000. Purse: $35,000.
#: Horse, Jockey, TrainerWt./Odds
1: Magic Revolution (Negron, Riecken)122/12-1
2: Shadowless (Wade, Oberlander)122/2-1
3: Pure Rocket (Hernandez, Williams)122/9-2
4: Citrus Bay (Arroyo, Tranquilino)122/5-1
5: Exxel (Chirinos, Lund)122/8-5
6: Lochmoor (Harr, Riecken)122/8-1
EXXEL was confidently handled in his last race. Broke well, sat outside the speed and took control in the upper stretch. Anticipating similar tactics today. SHADOWLESS chased a loose leader last out and came up short. Might try to get the lead early and dictate the pace leaving something in the tank late. PURE ROCKET is third off the layoff and cutting back in distance. If a speed duel develops, he'll be flying late.
3 Curtis Sampson Stakes. 1 mile on turf. Fillies. 3-year-olds. Purse: $100,000.
#: Horse, Jockey, TrainerWt./Odds
1: Whenthedawnbreaks (Geroux, Cox)116/4-1
2: Twirling Savi (Chirinos, Robertson)116/15-1
3: Sky High Susan (Loveberry, Silva)118/12-1

6: Captaire (Gutierrez, Brisset)116/15-1
7: Morgs World (Goodwin, Robertson)116/20-1
8: Miss Hard Knocks (H. Hernandez, M. Hernandez)122/20-1
9: Dreamworker (Beschizza, Sharp)118/5-1
10: Elle of the Ball (Wade, Sharp)116/6-1
11: Off Ramp (Valenzuela, Rosin)116/20-1
12: Latin Nikkita (Quinonez, Sweere)116/12-1
13: Blissful (Cheminaud, DeVaux)116/10-1
SCHLOFMITZ ships in for Maker who is 5-for-19 the last four seasons in Canterbury turf stakes. Raced competitively on the synthetic at Turfway this winter/spring but really woke up when she stepped on the sod. CAPTAIRE is an improving 3-year-old who won her first grass start at Horseshoe. Bred to adore the turf so could take another step forward. BLISSFUL won her career debut at Saratoga last summer then went on the shelf. Appears to be talented but it's a long layoff and a tough post.
4 Dark Star Turf Sprint Stakes. 5 furlongs on turf. Open. 3-year-olds and up. Purse: $100,000.
#: Horse, Jockey, TrainerWt./Odds
1: Ship It Red (Chirinos, Lund)118/20-1
2: Xy Speed (Castellano, Maker)118/4-1
3: Mark of the Z (Baird, Bahena)118/12-1
4: Seven Scents (Geroux, Cox)124/3-1
5: Jazzy Times (Lindsay, Van Winkle)118/15-1
6: Huey Attack (Loveberry, Bahena)124/12-1
7: On Your Mark (Gutierrez, Foley)120/8-1
8: Malpais (Quinonez, Villa)118/20-1
9: Tiger Dad (Lopez, Diodoro)124/15-1
10: R Mercedes Boy (Wade, Raven)120/12-1
11: Chess Master (Wade, Raven)124/6-1
12: Plane Talk (Canchari, Robertson)124/15-1
13: Spycraft (Beschizza, Sharp)118/5-1
14: College Party (Negron, Litfin)118/30-1
15: Bodenheimer (Fuentes, Lund)118/20-1
XY SPEED has won eight of 14 at this specialty distance. Should get a dream trip from the two post as he lets the speed battle in front and makes his move late. SEVEN SCENTS was claimed three back by Cox and immediately visited the winner's circle. Has been racing against better and has a tactical running style. CHESS MASTER is a hometown favorite with three wins locally. Has won 10 times at this distance but needs some racing luck from a tough outside post.
5 MTA Stallion Auction Stakes. 6½ furlongs. Restricted. Open. 3-year-olds. Purse: $60,000.
#: Horse, Jockey, TrainerWt./Odds
1: Shinboro (Quinonez, Padilla)122/8-1
2: Ojitos (Hernandez, Silva Rodriguez)122/5-1
3: Color Me Legendary (Chirinos, Lund)122/7-2
4: Royals' Lil Diva (Hernandez, Silva)117/9-5
5: Queenscaballo (Wade, Biehler)117/9-2
6: Tahkodha Knight (Negron, Litfin)117/30-1
7: Bailout Kela (Fuentes, Padilla)112/15-1
8: Jacks Willie (Lopez, Raven)122/6-1
COLOR ME LEGENDARY graduated first time out in professional fashion wearing down an older, experienced horse. Could improve with a start under her belt. ROYALS' LIL DIVA was shot out of a cannon in her career debut and never looked back. Faces boys today and may get some pressure early. QUEENSCABALLO has four wins including a nice one at Sam Houston in March but will need to improve.
6 Lady Canterbury Stakes. 1 mile on turf. Fillies and mares. 3-year-olds and up. Purse: $100,000.
#: Horse, Jockey, TrainerWt./Odds
1: Prance (Bridgmohan, M. Hernandez)118/20-1
2: Amalfi Princess (Castellano, Maker)118/9-2
3: Medalla Match (Wade, Biehler)118/15-1
4: Beach Flower (Chirinos, Robertson)124/12-1
5: Niceno (H. Hernandez, Silva, Jr.)118/12-1
6: Joy of Painting (Cannon, Arnold, II)118/15-1
7: She Can't Sing (Loveberry, Block)124/5-2
8: Saranya (Geroux, Cox)118/7-2
9: Swanage (Harr, Cline)118/30-1
10: Youens (Beschizza, Sharp)118/6-1
11: Bow Bow Girl (Fuentes, Richard)122/15-1
12: Ready to Runaway (Chirinos, Robertson)120/6-1
13: Lady Hideaway (Quinonez, Rengstorf)118/12-1
SARANYA captured the 3-year-old version of this race last year. Has good tactical speed and a very good tactical pilot aboard. Has three wins/two seconds in six career starts going long on a firm turf. SHE CAN'T SING might have a class edge in this group but tends to come from behind and with a full field, might have traffic issues. Loveberry knows this track well. LADY HIDEAWAY loves the local lawn winning three straight to close out the 2021 meet. Wishing she had a chance for a local prep before this race.
7 Mystic Lakes Mile Stakes. 1 mile on turf. Open. 3-year-olds and up. Purse: $100,000.
#: Horse, Jockey, TrainerWt./Odds
1: Street Ready (Fuentes, Wilkes)118/8-1
2: Spanish Kingdom (Beschizza, Sharp)118/6-1
3: Bellamys Roan (I. Hernandez, Westermann)118/30-1
4: Two Emmys (Chirinos, Robertson)124/3-1
5: My Indy (Lindsay, Van Winkle)124/20-1
6: Mr Dumas (Gutierrez, Ortiz)122/4-1
7: Tut's Revenge (H. Hernandez, Stuart)124/5-1
8: Goalie (Wade, Diodoro)122/12-1
9: Drama Chorus (Quinonez, Padilla)124/12-1
10: Rochambeau (Cheminaud, DeVaux)118/15-1
11: Dyn O Mite (Geroux, Desormeaux)118/8-1
12: Agent Peter Graves (Bridgmohan, Young)120/20-1
SPANISH KINGDOM had a fantastic 2020 season crossing the wire first three times and running well in some stakes. Must have encountered some physical issues after that with only four starts since. His last race was a nice one and races right back. TUT'S REVENGE participates in this race for the third year in a row with a win and a third in his pocket. He is game as they come and has a running style that fits Canterbury. MR DUMAS beat the top pick in last at Churchill but only has one win since October 2020.
8 Mystic Lake Derby. 1 mile on turf. Open. 3-year-olds. Purse: $150,000.
#: Horse, Jockey, TrainerWt./Odds
1: Chrome King (Lopez, M. Hernandez)122/20-1
2: Next Journey (H. Hernandez, Wong)116/15-1
3: Slim Slow Slider (Fuentes, R. Hernandez)118/15-1
4: Tonka Warrior (Canchari, Robertson)116/15-1
5: Magoo (Wade, Robertson)118/10-1
6: Dowagiac Chief (Gutierrez, Amoss)122/4-1
7: Switzer (Beschizza, Moquett)116/10-1
8: Stitched (Geroux, Foley)122/5-2
9: Xavey Dave (Chirinos, Robertson)118/6-1
10: Heaven Street (Castellano, Walsh)122/5-1
11: Bens Malice (Quinonez, Van Winkle)118/8-1
BENS MALICE has the homecourt advantage with two wins on the Canterbury lawn. Last race was the perfect prep as he won and didn't overexert himself. More than enough speed in here to accentuate his closing kick. HEAVEN STREET beat the top pick narrowly in March at Tampa Bay and is third off the layoff from a really good barn. XAVEY DAVE shocked them down in the "Big Easy" with a long shot win in March then raced greenly down the stretch at Keeneland. Still maturing and learning but has talent.
9 6 furlongs. State bred. Open. 3-year-olds and up. Claiming: $15,000. Purse: $13,500.
#: Horse, Jockey, TrainerWt./Odds
1: J J's Wildcat (Harr, McKinley)124/6-1
2: Overseas Letter (Quinonez, Eidschun)119/4-1
3: Westa Waverly (Negron, Robertson)124/3-1
4: Devoted to You (L. Fuentes, Berndt)124/2-1
5: Twilite Liason (Lara, Applebee)124/15-1
6: Mark of Valor (R. Fuentes, Lund)119/15-1
7: Passthecat (Valenzuela, Hanson)124/8-1
8: Gone a Lil Lu Hu (Barandela, Smith)119/10-1
WESTA WAVERLY makes his second start of the year for Robertson. Got cooked on the front end in seasonal debut against much better. If he shows that speed against these, he might be clear. DEVOTED TO YOU has been in the mix in all six starts locally hitting the board in all. If the top pick doesn't break alertly, he may inherit the lead. J J'S WILDCAT broke his maiden against special weights and gets the rail.
10 6½ furlongs. Fillies and mares. 3-year-olds and up. Claiming: $10,000. Purse: $13,500.
#: Horse, Jockey, TrainerWt./Odds
1: Priceless Miracle (Negron, Smith)124/15-1
2: Temporarily (Wade, Flores)119/3-1
3: Credit Card Fraud (Barandela, Hardy)119/8-1
4: Milliganmikeandme (Lara, Riecken)119/6-1
5: Speedy Enough (Lindsay, Van Winkle)119/4-1
6: Full Speed Astern (Conning, Bullene)119/5-1
7: Outworktheokiegirl (Hernandez, Biehler)119/2-1
SPEEDY ENOUGH was spinning his wheels early in last before regaining his stride and running evenly. Expecting more focused effort today with a local start. FULL SPEED ASTERN raced over her head in last and never got involved. The drop in class might be just what she needs. OUTWORKTHEOKIEGIRL has speed and the outside post. Will attempt to steal it on the front end.

The Wild head toward a big game against Dallas with one of the NHL’s best records but also with health concerns after Joel Eriksson Ek and Mats Zuccarello exited injured.
