Offensive lineman Jeremiah Sirles, who started 10 games for the Vikings last season and lined up at four different positions, tweeted a photo this evening of him signing his exclusive rights tender for the team. So he will be back in 2017 to compete for a starting job at right guard or tackle.
Sirles' one-year deal will pay him $690,000 this season, per a source.
A player's options with these exclusive rights tenders are to either play for the team or not play in the NFL at all. So yeah, nothing shocking here.
As my colleague Andrew Krammer wrote this morning, guard Zac Kerin was tendered, too, and will be back to battle for a roster spot in camp.
Other than more speculation about where Peterson wants to play this season and little about teams actually wanting him, there was minimal buzz about the Vikings and potential targets today. I doubt that continues tomorrow, with the official start of free agency looming Thursday.
