Jermaine Palacio capped his hot finish to July in style, hitting a walkoff grand slam with two out in the 10th inning to give the Saints an 8-4 victory over the Iowa Cubs on Sunday at CHS Field.

After Michael Feliz pitched a scoreless top half of the 10th, the home team loaded the bases in the bottom of the inning before Palacios launched the first pitch he saw from Blake Whitney, giving the Saints (47-50) their eighth walkoff victory of the season.

Palacios also hit a tying RBI in the eighth inning. In eight games since the Saints returned to action after the All-Star break, he has hit .406 with five home runs, including a pair of grand slams, and 15 RBI, and earlier in the day he was named Twins minor league player of the week.

Jake Cave hit a two-run homer in the third inning. He also doubled and scored three runs.

Saints starter Ariel Jurado struck out seven in four innings of work. Twins lefthander Caleb Thielbar, making his first rehab appearance since injuring a hamstring, pitched a perfect fifth inning, striking out one.

It was the final Saints broadcast for No. 2 play-by-play voice J.W. Cox, who had also been doing play-by-play for St. Cloud State since 2016. Cox is becoming the director of broadcasting at Northern Iowa.
