Minnesota state Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, called for civility in the wake of a gunman’s attack that wounded the couple and killed Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark.

Suspected gunman Vance Boelter has been charged in the shootings, during which he allegedly impersonated a police officer. Gov. Tim Walz and other officials have called the shootings politically motivated acts of violence.
