St. Paul police are investigating the death of a juvenile found in a car that struck a light pole on Wednesday in Como Regional Park.

The crash occurred about 11 a.m. on Midway Parkway just north of Como Avenue, police spokesman Steve Linders said.

"We are working to determine an exact cause of death," Linders said. He declined to give the victim's approximate age until family members are notified.

He said that the juvenile and the driver were the only occupants of the vehicle and that the driver was being treated for noncritical injuries. Police were not yet releasing details about the relationship between the two.

Asked if the death was suspicious, Linders said: "I can say we're investigating a death — that's as far as I can go."
