Latest sanctions

Sunday: The European Union slapped an embargo on all oil imports from Iran. European companies also will no longer be involved in insuring ships carrying Iranian oil.

Last Thursday: The United States imposed sanctions that could punish any country that buys Iranian oil, but issued six-month exemptions to 20 countries, including China, that significantly cut their purchases.
