Letters of the day (July 6): Litter

I would never try to guess the number of people on the Stone Arch Bridge and surrounding space last night watching the spectacular July 4th fireworks show in Minneapolis. When I walked my dog there Tuesday morning before 10, all the litter had been picked up and bagged, ready for disposal or recycle pickup. What a great job! KATHLEEN CLARKE ANDERSON, MINNEAPOLIS

Do the litterslugs who left mountains of refuse around Normandale Lake following the fireworks believe the mess is magically sucked up into the heavens? No, precious city tax dollars that might be put to better use will pay for someone to clean up after them. Maybe Bloomington will wisely extract the cost from next year's fireworks budget.
