Writers always get the last word in their own books, and 10 of them also may get a Last Word at next month’s Boozy Book Fair.
Like books and booze? Have Curtis Sittenfeld, David Housewright and Shannon Gibney got an event for you
They’re among 10 writers playing games, drinking cocktails and signing books at the Boozy Book Fair in St. Paul.
A Last Word is a cocktail sold by St. Paul’s King Coil Spirits (gin, lime, herby liqueur), where Stillwater’s Valley Booksellers is hosting the fair. Ten big names from the area literary community will be in attendance: Curtis Sittenfeld (”Romantic Comedy”), David Housewright (”Man in the Water”), Shannon Gibney (”The Girl I Am, Was and Never Will Be”), Patrick Nathan (”The Future Was Color”), Jeremy Norton (”Trauma Sponges”), Sally Franson (”Big in Sweden”), Gretchen Anthony (”Tired Ladies Take a Stand”), Josh Moehling (”Where the Dead Sleep”), Will McGrath (”Farewell Transmission”) and Ann Garvin (”There’s No Coming Back From This”).
Writers will sign books, compete in trivia games and perhaps have a negroni at the event, 3 p.m. Sept. 15 at King Coil, which is at 550 Vandalia St., St. Paul. Admission is $20, which includes a drink and a $5 book coupon. Tickets are available at valleybooksellers.com.
St. Paul writer Kao Kalia Yang has won four Minnesota Book Awards and was recognized by the Guggenheim Foundation and National Endowment for the Arts.
